Marcus Rashford put England 2-1 up against Italy after brilliant work from Jude Bellingham in the build up.

Bellingham tackled an Italy player on the edge of Jordan Pickford's box, with Phil Foden picking up the loose ball and sparking an England counter attack.

The Man City star found Bellingham, fresh from having won the ball back, galloping up the pitch, with the 20-year-old using his first touch to flick the ball beyond the on-rushing Italy defender.

Bellingham, who has scored 10 goals in his first 10 games for Real Madrid, then fed Marcus Rashford on the flank, who waltzed inside his full back and fired a low show into the net to put England ahead.

Bellingham also played a major role in England's opener, with the Los Blancos star having driven into the Italy box before being fouled by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Harry Kane scored the subsequent spot kick, as he (almost) always does.

Last week, at the start of England's camp manager Gareth Southgate was asked if Bellingham was the best player in the world.

The Three Lions boss said: “I wondered if you might say that!

“No, it’s not a stupid question. I haven’t seen everybody and studied everybody playing.

“All I can say is he’s at one of the biggest clubs in the world, arguably the biggest, and he’s playing exceptionally well and he’s currently the match-winner for them so he’s in a brilliant place.”

Should England claim all three points in their European Championship qualifier, they would secure qualification for next year's tournament in Germany.
