The SPORTbible team have simulated what would happen if Thomas Tuchel took over from Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, and the results will shock you...

It doesn't feel like there has been a time in the last year where Ten Hag's position at the helm of United hasn't been questioned, but there has never been more scrutiny than right now.

United currently sit 14th in the Premier League table with Ten Hag guiding the club to their worst-ever start to a season for the second consecutive season.

Ten Hag's job doesn't appear to be in any immediate danger despite the dire start to the season, but the Manchester Evening News have reported the club are considering an approach for Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel has been out of a job since being let go by Bayern Munich last season, but we have simulated how the German would get on for the Red Devils through Football Manager.

It's fair to say the 51-year-old settled in fairly well to life in Manchester as he secured a 3rd place finish for United in his debut season.

Unsurprisingly, the introduction of Tuchel did wonders for Mason Mount, who featured 40 times for the manager he won the Champions League with in 2021.

Other key facts from the simulation centre around United's strikers, as Hojlund appears to have been clearly cast aside by the new boss with just three Premier League starts.

With the Danish youngster struggling for minutes, new signing Joshua Zrikzee made the most of his opportunities by becoming the league's top scorer with 19 goals.

Tuchel also dabbled in the transfer market but made the sole signing of Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton for £17.5 million which may come as a surprise.

More good news for United fans is they seem to have finally found a stable defensive partnership, with Tuchel opting for Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs De Ligt at the back.

However, as usual with United, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows as they exited the cup competitions in typical fashion.

Tuchel's side were knocked out of the Europa League by Arne Slot's former side Feyenoord, knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Leeds United, and also got knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Manchester City.

Tuchel is currently 9/4 to replace Ten Hag via Sky Bet, so we could find out if this is an accurate simulation very very soon.
