Ryan Giggs seemed to take a pop at Antony as he slammed Manchester United's recruitment.

Ryan Giggs appeared to aim a thinly-veiled dig at Antony when naming the one Manchester United player 'who gets you off your seat'.

Giggs shared his thoughts on the current state of play at Man United after returning to the public eye after being cleared of domestic abuse charges.

And he seemed to take a swipe at Antony, who cost the Red Devils a staggering £85 million in the summer of 2022.

The Man United legend, who won 13 Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, praised the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho, who graduated from the club's youth academy.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said: "He gets you off your seat. He’s giving you 10 times more than the other guy that cost so much more money."

On Man United's business in the transfer market, Giggs exclaimed: "We’ve just recruited terribly for years and years."

Antony has come under intense scrutiny for his underwhelming performances in a Man United shirt.

He has still yet to open his account this season, having made 22 appearances in all competitions.

19-year-old Garnacho, however, has become a key player under Erik ten Hag, scoring five goals this season - including a stunning strike against Everton.

Giggs also touched on Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposed 25 per cent takeover, which is expected to be ratified next month.

He's hoping Ratcliffe can change the 'culture of the club' as he referenced the importance of signing the right players.

"Like everyone else, it’s frustrating and has been for the last six or seven years," he added. "Nobody knows the answer and you have to start again. It starts from the top. We’re just so inconsistent and you just never know what you get.

"That is the No.1 thing we have to change. The culture of the club. To get players in who want to play for United and will do anything to win a game for United.

"That is something in the medium-term, we have to get those players in."
