Ruben Amorim has reportedly opted against including one Manchester United star in a potential swap deal for Carlos Baleba.

After reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign striker Benjamin Sesko earlier in the week, it has been revealed that United are now looking to strengthen in other areas.

On Wednesday, The Athletic's David Ornstein claimed that United had opened dialogue with Brighton and Hove Albion, via intermediaries, regarding the possibility of signing midfielder Baleba.

He wrote on social media: "Man Utd contact Brighton via intermediaries to explore conditions of deal for Carlos Baleba. #BHAFC do not plan to sell this summer & all sides aware move may be unrealistic. But #MUFC keen + should know in coming days if plausible or not."

It has been suggested that Brighton value Baleba at £100 million and the Seagulls are reluctant to sell, especially with just a week until the Premier League season starts.

On Friday, it was claimed that one current United star will not be considered as a makeweight for Baleba.

According to the Manchester Evening News, young midfielder Toby Collyer 'will not be considered as a makeweight in a swap deal for Carlos Baleba'.

Previously, it was claimed that Collyer could be used as a makeweight due to him coming through the Brighton academy before joining the Red Devils.

However, those reports have now been rubbished by the MEN, who stated that Collyer could leave on loan.

Speaking about his future, Collyer said during United's pre-season tour of the United States: "I think first and foremost I want to be here and play as many games for Man United as possible.

"I'll sit down with the manager and higher-ups and see what's the best solution for that. The best way for me to develop, whether it's stay here or go on loan."

He added: "The end goal for me is to play as many minutes as possible here, hopefully starting every week. So yeah, I'll sit down with them.

"Obviously, my feeling at this moment is I want to stay. I want to play as many games as possible. I've not really thought that far ahead to be honest. I'll just see how the next few weeks go and then we'll go over those conversations."
