Roy Keane's first Instagram post in two years has instantly gone viral.

The famously curmudgeon pundit has been linked with the managerial vacancy at Sunderland in recent days after the Black Cats sacked Michael Beale.

Speculation is beginning to crop up regarding Keane, with bookmakers offering short odds on the former Manchester United star to be Sunderland’s next permanent manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been linked to the vacancy at the Championship club, with such reports having perhaps inspired Keane’s first Instagram post in two years.

Amid the speculation, Keane posted a picture of himself and former United teammate Solskjaer, with the caption: "DM us if you’re looking to hire a manager."

The photo was perhaps taken during Keane’s trip to Solskjaer’s native Norway after the latter was relieved of his duties as United manager.

Speaking on the Overlap alongside Solskjaer, Keane said: “I went to visit you last year didn’t I… drove eight hours to see you.

“We fancied a trip, obviously I knew he was feeling a bit low so I thought I’d cheer him up. So yeah I drove up it was lovely.”

Solskjaer replied, telling the others that, “The thing you need to know, is getting to Kristiansand isn’t the easiest, so I knew he wasn’t going to come, no chance he’s coming.

“He flew to Oslo, I went ‘Do you want me to help organise the next bit? no no no I’ll be fine, I’ll drive’ So I thought no chance he won’t drive. Monday morning about 7 o’clock or whatever you text ‘I’m on my way’, I thought ‘oh for f***s-sake.”

“Eight, nine hours”, Solskjaer added.

“Nice Volvo Estate,” Keane then said. “Beautiful, no it was lovely”.
