Manchester United fans singled out one player in particular after playing out a disappointing 2-1 loss against West Ham United at the London Stadium.

United came into the match looking to build on their 2-1 victory against Brentford last week.

However, they failed to take advantage of a flurry of first-half chances with Diogo Dalot’s stunning miss summing up Erik ten Hag’s side's afternoon in the capital.

Things went from bad to worse when substitute Crysencio Summerville put the home side ahead on 74 minutes after Alejandro Garnacho lost the ball giving West Ham the chance to attack the United goal.

Ten Hag’s blushes were temporarily spared by Casemiro who equalised on 81 minutes.

But the Hammers had the last laugh on 92 minutes when Jarrod Bowen scored from the penalty spot after Matthijs de Ligt fouled Danny Ings in the box.

It’s safe to say fans were not happy with Garnacho's wasteful performance as they voiced their thoughts on social media. The Argentine registered three shots off target as well as losing possession 16 times during the game, according to Sofascore.

One said: “Ten Hag treating Rashford as a bench player and Garnacho as a star player. This man has lost his mind I’m afraid.”

Another added: “Garnacho, terrible technique you know worst finisher in our front line.”

With a third saying: “I’ve deeped it Garnacho shoots like he’s tryna hit the roof of the net every time.”

A fourth said: "Garnacho costing us yet another game. Not even fully on him anymore as the manager fails to ever take him off the pitch."

With a fifth agreeing: "Garnacho doesn’t really offer anything more than just trying very hard. No quality whatsoever but he plays all the time."

The result means the Red Devils sit 14th in the Premier League just seven points away from the relegation zone. To rub salt in United's wounds the loss means Ten Hag's side have won just one of their last eight games in all competitions. Next up for the Red Devils is a home tie in the Carabao Cup against Leicester City on Wednesday October 30 before they host Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday 3 November.
