David de Gea has been spotted back at Manchester United amid rumblings he could return to Old Trafford.

The Spaniard ended a 12-year spell at United this summer after both parties failed to agree to terms on a new deal. The departure came about despite the shot-stopper winning the Premier League Golden Glove last season.

United subsequently signed Andre Onana from Inter as a new No.1, only for the Cameroon international to make a series of high-profile blunders in his first few months at the club.

In particular, Onana was at fault for a penalty awarded against United in a Champions League defeat against Galatasaray. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old’s latest gaff came in a 2-1 victory against Brentford.

De Gea remains a free agent, despite allegedly having fielded plenty of interest in the past few months.

And upon the Spaniard’s return to the North West, allegedly to clear out his property in Hale, Cheshire, there were calls among contingents of the United fanbase to have the goalkeeper return on a free transfer.

During his time in England the 32-year-old also took time to show his support for United’s women’s team at the Leigh Sports Village.

United drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Women’s Champions League qualifier, with the club looking to reach the group stage on their debut appearance in the competition.

United were playing their first-ever match in the tournament after finishing second in the Women’s Super League last term.

De Gea also showed his support for United on Instagram, writing 'Let's go!!!' on a video clip of the women’s outfit warming up for the match.

The Spaniard has reportedly been based at his family home in Madrid since leaving United, alongside his pop star partner Edurne Garcia and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Yanay.
