One of the Premier League's top earners has been tipped to make an unexpected move to Manchester United as he continues to train "like a man possessed".
United are expected to be active in the January transfer window, with Ruben Amorim keen on strengthening his squad.
They are said to be chasing a central midfielder, according to the MEN, as several names continue to be linked with a move, including James Garner, Conor Gallagher and Manu Kone.
United are also interested in Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo and have made enquiries over the potential signing of highly-rated Mali international Lassine Sinayoko, according to Africafoot.

Sinayoko, who plays for Ligue 1 side Auxerre, has scored six goals in 16 league games for the French side this season. "Manchester United are finalising a €3 million salary agreement," the report claims.

With days to go until the January window opens, former Liverpool forward Dean Saunders has tipped United to make a surprise move for another forward, who is currently a member of Chelsea's so-called 'bomb squad'.
Raheem Sterling has yet to play a single minute under Enzo Maresca this season after being relegated to the club's so-called 'bomb squad' alongside several players, including Axel Disasi.
But the former England international could make an impact at Manchester United, according to Saunders.
"He's 31, he should be at the height of his powers, at the height of his career. That's when you're at your prime," he told talkSPORT.
"He's training on his own at Chelsea, is he? I don't even know where he is now. He went to Arsenal and didn't play many games, which is fair enough with the players they've got.
"But if I were a club now, any team in the Premier League, I would sign Raheem Sterling.
"If you haven't got to pay a fee for him, and you can get his wages sort of halved or whatever, or they pay most of his wages to give you a really good deal, he is definitely good enough to play in the Premier League."
Sterling, who last made a competitive appearance in May, during his season-long loan spell at Arsenal, is currently earning over £300,000 per week at Chelsea.
Asked whether he could see Sterling taking a pay cut, Saunders replied: "Well, from what I know of him, apparently he loves football, he trains like a man possessed every day, he stays out afterwards trying to improve.
"He's always been like that since he was at Liverpool as a kid. When he was young at Liverpool, all the youth team coaches that worked with him, I know them all, said he's a great lad. He will be now.
"He will be on the floor that he's not playing football. And someone needs to get him out of there and get him playing before it's too late. At 35 it's all over, mate. Get out there and play football."

Saunders believes Sterling could break into any team who are below the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
"If you're looking to strengthen your team, I mean, he could play anywhere, couldn't he? Saunders said. "He could play for Man United.
"When he's at his peak, he could get in Liverpool's team, obviously, he played for them. But I would say Man United, Spurs, he could get in any of the teams that are just below the top, trying to win the league.
"The teams that are trying to win the league, he could get in their squads."
Sterling, who grew up in the Wembley area, has previously admitted to being a "massive" United fan growing up.
Speaking in an interview with The Mirror ahead of Chelsea's 2007 FA Cup final clash against United, Sterling said: “I shouldn’t really say this — not now, definitely not now! — but when I was young I was a massive United fan."
"I had an old United kit, from when they won the last FA Cup," he added.
Back in 2024, when Sterling was being linked with Manchester United, a report from The Telegraph claimed Sterling would have considered a move to Old Trafford.
