What happened to the 10 players Sheikh Jassim 'wanted to sign' if Man Utd takeover was successful

Sheikh Jassim was in the running to buy Manchester United before Sir Jim Ratcliffe won the race.

Sheikh Jassim had a list of 10 huge transfer targets which were lined up in the event he became the new owner of Manchester United, reports said.

For months it was reported that the Qatari banker was a frontrunner to buy Manchester United and had high hopes to bring the good times back to Old Trafford.

It was reported that Jassim tabled a total of five bids to buy 100 per cent of United and had plans to remove existing debts, as well as renovating both Old Trafford and the Carrington training complex.

There was of course set to be a huge transfer budget made available, yet in the end nothing materialised.

Jassim reportedly felt the £6 billion valuation from the Glazer family was "unrealistic" and ultimately Sir Jim Ratcliffe won the race and acquired 27.7% shares for £1.25 billion.

Back in May 2023, El Pais reported that Jassim had planned an almighty £500 million assault on the transfer market.

Harry Kane and Kim Min Jae were both targets but both ended up signing for Bayern Munich.

Alexis Mac Allister was briefly linked with United but ultimately signed for rivals Liverpool in a £35 million switch.

Adrien Rabiot, seemingly a target for United every year, penned a new deal with Juventus before returning to France with Marseille in the summer window.

His Juve colleague Dusan Vlahovic is still with the Bianconeri, while Victor Osimhen didn't get his desired move from Napoli on the most recent transfer deadline day and instead had to make do with a loan to Galatasaray.

Frenkie de Jong's name still gets linked with United on a regular basis but despite being a mooted target, he and Barcelona colleague Ronaldo Araujo are still plying their trade in Catalonia.

Napoli star Kvicha Kvaratskhelia ended speculation about his future by signing a contract extension with the Serie A champions, while Kingsley Coman was linked with Arsenal and clubs in Saudi Arabia but is still with Bayern in the Bundesliga.
