Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has confirmed he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer in search of regular first-team football.

The 22-year-old, who is still waiting to make his first-team debut for United despite signing for the club in 2020, spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Championship side Bristol City.

It was a memorable campaign for the Czech shot-stopper, who won the club’s Player of the Year award, Young Player of the Year award, and Players’ Player of the Year award.

Unsurprisingly, a number of clubs are said to be chasing Vitek's signature, including all three newly-promoted Premier League sides Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City.

Vitek has returned to United this summer and on Saturday afternoon, he featured in their pre-season defeat to Wrexham at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, Finland.

However, it looks like his time at the club will be short-lived. Speaking in the aftermath of the 1-0 defeat to Phil Parkinson's side, the goalkeeper opened up about his next move.

"I feel great and ready to go again somewhere to be, hopefully, number one, so we will see. We will see what is going to happen," said Vitek.

"At the moment, I am still here, but we will see. I hope so. I hope there will be some interest. I think you will know when things are more concrete."

Asked whether he'd prefer a permanent deal or another loan, Vitek replied: "I am ready for both, to be fair. Depends what the club wants and also depends on the options. We will see.

"There have been a few interests on the table. But we hope to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon."

Vitek, who made 41 appearances for Bristol City across the 2025-26 season, keeping 12 clean sheets, reaffirmed that he wants to play regular first-team football in the coming months.

Senne Lammens is expected to retain his spot as United's number one after an impressive campaign.

"My mind is still the same," Vitek continued. "I want to play. I want to play every week and that is the goal for next season. I think hopefully I will find out soon where that is going to be.

"I think I grew over the past two-and-a-half years when I went on a few loans. I grew in a person-wise, on the pitch as well."

Vitek also heaped praise on goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson, as well as experienced shot-stopper Tom Heaton, who recently signed a new one-year contract extension at Old Trafford.

"I have been working here with Craig nearly six years now," he added. "And obviously with Tom as well, quite a long time. They have been massively important.

"Also this pre-season, it helps me a lot. I can work with them and hopefully get myself ready as best as possible."
