He is still at Manchester Untied despite the warning.

The Manchester United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was warned that would get him sacked is still at the club.

Solskjaer delivered managerial heroics as caretaker boss after he replaced Jose Mourinho.

He signed a permanent deal after guiding Man United to 14 wins in 19 matches, but he was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford in November 2021 following a string of bad results. A crushing 4-1 defeat at Watford was the final straw.

But there had been optimism at the club following the success under the club legend, which was ultimately short lived.

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol, however, didn't see it that way as he predicted Solskjaer's sacking, pinpointing one player in particular.

He warned the Norwegian of Anthony Martial as he pulled no punches in his assessment back in 2020.

Asked if Martial had been a success at Man United, Nicol ruthlessly replied: "I'm going to say no. This guy frustrates me. In the football business, there are certain players that we say will get you the sack.

"He's a guy that will get you the sack. You play three games, he does absolutely nothing, you're about to take him off again and he scores a stunning goal."

He added: "Then it's like, 'Oh, well, maybe this is going to start...', and then the next three games is the same, and then you're going to take him off and then he scores a stunning goal.

"I'm sorry, I expected a lot more from this guy. He can't keep himself fit."

Despite intense transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Man United, Martial is still on the books.

He's played 10 league games under Erik ten Hag this season and has yet to score.

Martial's current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with a new deal very unlikely.

A move in January could be sanctioned to avoid a free transfer scenario.
