A fan who attended Manchester United's pre-season clash against Everton has posted footage of Joshua Zirkzee enjoying some downtime as he sat next to teammate Noussair Mazraoui on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium bench.

United played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Everton on Sunday evening as Ruben Amorim's side lifted the Premier League Summer Series trophy following previous wins over West Ham and Bournemouth.

Perhaps the biggest talking point from the game was summer signing Bryan Mbuemo, who was handed his first start in a United shirt as he joined Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes in Amorim's revamped forward line.

It was a largely successful pre-season tour for the Reds, and the atmosphere around camp has been positive. Speaking ahead of the game, Joshua Zirkzee gave an insight into the group as they prepare for their Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17.

“There’s some good energy around,” Zirkzee told MUTV. “There’s such a good vibe. We’re all invested in something, you can tell that we really want to make sure we’re not doing what we did last season."

He added: “Also, outside the pitch, there’s good vibes, we’re doing a lot of team bonding. We’re getting much closer than we were. Hopefully we can try translate all of that onto the pitch and share it with the rest of the world."

Zirkzee was not involved in United's final game of the US tour, but his appearance on the bench alongside teammate Noussair Mazraoui got people talking after he was spotted playing popular mobile game Clash of Clans.

A fan posted footage of Zirkzee playing the game alongside the caption: "Caught Zirkzee raiding mid match".

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the video. One said: "He is so real," and another commented: "That’s my game!!! Zirkzee has a fan for life haha."

A third wrote: "Everyone’s laughing because this isn’t Rashford, Garnacho or Sancho …. #noticing."

A fourth said: "I apologise, I wasn't familiar with your game," and a fifth added: "The game had not started yet, also my guy was not even on the team sheet. He deserves it."

Zirkzee believes there is a "special vibe" around Manchester United at the moment.

"Every individual contributes to that," he continued. "For example, the new guys, we want to make it as easy as possible to feel at home in this environment, but if you see the way that they come in, what they add to our environment, it works together very well.

Zirkzee added: “This is our job that we stay this close together also when we have a setback. This group is ready for that. We have some great guys. There’s a hunger in this team, there’s even a bigger hunger from our manager, our coach, so it’s up to us to just keep improving and also enjoying what we’re doing.”
