Casemiro has revealed the tactic that Erik ten Hag and his team of coaches are working on in a bid to turn around Manchester United's fortunes this season.

Man United find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League table, having already lost five league games this season - most recently to Manchester City last weekend.

The pressure is mounting on Ten Hag, who is having his tactics questioned for the first time since his arrival at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils resume their campaign tonight against Newcastle United in a Carabao Cup clash, before returning to league action against Fulham on Saturday.

Ten Hag's side then travel to Denmark to take on Copenhagen in a crucial Champions League fixture.

Ahead of the big games, Casemiro has revealed that Man United have been specifically working on scoring from set-pieces as he aims to contribute himself, having scored four goals this season.

"There’s no doubt that this is something we’ve been working on a lot," he said. "Eric Ramsay [first-team coach] works hard on dead-ball situations, and he’s at the club for this very reason. He deserves credit for the work he’s done, indicating to us where we can hurt them the most. I think that the coaching staff have played a big role in this regard."

The 31-year-old added: "Of course, those stats you mentioned are important [four goals in 11 games], especially for me given that I’m a defensive midfielder, but anything I can contribute to the team is really important to me. I’m always trying to help out. Obviously, my main aim isn’t to score.

"I have other duties. However, if I can chip in with goals from set-pieces and contribute to the team in this way then that counts for a lot. The credit shouldn’t just be given to the players and the specific player who scores, but the coaching staff as well."

After a stellar debut campaign at Man United following his move from Real Madrid, Casemiro has come under criticism for his performances this term.

Jamie Carragher raised concerns over his legs while reports in Brazil claim the veteran midfielder 'regrets' his transfer.
