Man Utd make decision on Jadon Sancho's future after masterclass vs PSG in Champions League

Manchester United have made a decision on the future of Jadon Sancho following his impressive performance in the Champions League.

Sancho, 24, stole the show as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in their Champions League semi-final first leg in Germany on Wednesday night.

The winger completed 12 dribbles in the game, the most of any English player in any Champions League match on record and more than anyone in the competition has managed since Lionel Messi in 2008.

United legend Rio Ferdinand was quick to praise the England international after full time.

"He's in the groove," Ferdinand told TNT Sports. "When someone gets in the groove, we see it in different sports. When they're in the groove and the confidence is there, they churn these performances out.

"He will come off this pitch on a high, we’ll see all these people going on about it on social media, and love it, and rightly so. I hate to go back, but I want to know what happened at Man United. Why didn't it go well there?"

Sancho joined Dortmund on loan from United in the January transfer window after falling out with United manager Erik ten Hag.

He was banished from the first-team squad in September after he refused to apologise to the Dutch manager in a row over his efforts in training.

After Ten Hag publicly called out Sancho in a press conference, the player responded by claiming he had been made a 'scapegoat' by the United boss – branding his claims 'completely untrue'.

Sancho has rediscovered his form since returning to Dortmund and is now being linked with a permanent move to the club.

When asked after the win over PSG if he plans to remain at Dortmund next season, Sancho told CBS Sports: "I really don't know. I'm focused on the present right now."

Despite his recent upturn in form, Sancho is set to leave United in the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph claim the Premier League club expect Sancho to depart on a permanent deal.

United are prepared to listen to offers for all but three players on their first-team squad and Sancho is not among those off-limits.

Dortmund's six-month loan deal for Sancho does not include an option to buy the winger and he will be due to report back for pre-season training at United.

But it is claimed United sources are 'expecting him to leave' this summer 'if a deal can be thrashed out with a buyer'.
