Sky Sports reporter reveals what he's heard about Harry Maguire after Man Utd captaincy setback

Sky Sports reporter reveals what he's heard about Harry Maguire after Man Utd captaincy setback

He's not short of options.

A Sky Sports reporter has offered an update on Harry Maguire’s Manchester United future.

On Sunday Maguire revealed he has been stripped of the United captaincy after three-and-a-half years as skipper.

The move comes with United willing to listen to offers for the 30-year-old, who is considering his options after being told he is not part of Ten Hag’s long-term plans.

Indeed, as per the Guardian, West Ham have had a loan offer for Maguire dismissed, with United hoping for a permanent departure.

United signed Maguire for £80million in 2019 and although they are expected to make a big loss on him, they are reportedly keen to raise their budget for the rest of the window by selling unwanted players.

It remains to be seen whether United’s reluctance to loan Maguire lessens later in the window, should they struggle to move the player on.

Sky Sports reporter gives Maguire update

Sky Sports’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol insisted that Maguire would “not be short of options” this summer despite his stuttering form.

The centre-back’s stock has fallen during his time at Old Trafford and he made only eight starts in the Premier League last term.

Nevertheless, Solhekol told Sky Sports News: “The good news as far as [Maguire] is concerned is he will not be short of options, despite some of the crazy, disgusting things you read on social media, the way he is ridiculed and targeting.

“Within the football world, he is very, very well respected. People are very well aware of his quality, his talents, and also his leadership qualities.

“People have short memories because just a few months ago he was in the Sky Sports team of the Qatar World Cup. A year before that he was in the official UEFA team of the Euros. So he’s still got a lot to offer.

“It might not be at Manchester United but he’s going to take his time and consider his options.”
