A Fantasy football expert has named one shock player as an essential asset in FPL next week, labelling them as a must-have.

Fantasy football returned last month as the Premier League got underway after a summer of big tournaments like Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

However, with domestic football pausing for a week as the season's first international break is set to begin, FPL managers are itching for more content around the game.

And now, one FPL expert has posted a tip for Gameweek 4, labelling one shock player as a must-have.

Andy from LetsTalkFPL took to social media to claim that Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is an essential player for the next round of Premier League fixtures, comparing him to Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah who have been the standout players so far.

Posting on X, he wrote: "GW1: It’s mad to go without Salah.

"GW2: It’s mad to go without Haaland.

"GW3: It’s mad to go without Salah and Haaland.

"GW4: It’s mad to go without Bruno Fernandes. 🤔"

Fernandes has scored just seven points in three games since the start of the season, as United have failed to impress by losing two consecutive matches after narrowly winning their season opener 1-0.

Despite an expected goal statistic of 1.3, the Portuguese midfielder has yet to get a goal or an assist this season so far, disappointing FPL managers who expected him to perform well this season.

His low points returns have led to the Fernandes, who remains in 12.3% of FPL teams, dropping in price by 0.1m as thousands of managers transferred him out of their fantasy squads.

Comparatively, Haaland and Salah, who Andy also named as essential in previous gameweeks, have each scored 41 points, justifying the fact that they are the two most expensive players in FPL.

Last week alone, both men scored a massive 17 points as Haaland netted a hat-trick against West Ham United and Salah scored and registered two assists against United at Old Trafford.

Reacting to Andy's X post, popular British YouTuber and FPL enthusiast KSI wrote: "It’s mad to go without Bruno Fernandes 😂😂😂"

"Funniest thing you’ve said all year 😂"
