Tim Sherwood has ruffled fans' feathers after claiming Erik ten Hag 'has not improved' anyone since taking over at Manchester United.

Former Blackburn Rovers star Sherwood joined the likes of Michael Dawson and Clinton Morrison on Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday panel.

During a segment discussing United, the 54-year-old decided to make his thoughts on Ten Hag crystal clear.

Sherwood opened his speech by saying: “I’m not sure he has improved anyone at that football club.”

When queried on whether he truly believed in that statement, the former Aston Villa manager doubled down on his opinion.

“I think he did okay last year,” Sherwood continued. “It’s a mess what he’s come into by the way and he’s had the [Cristiano] Ronaldo situation.

“But how bad is that when one of the best players in the world, and you’ve got to deal with him?”

The 54-year-old then claimed that Ten Hag should have dealt with Ronaldo ‘better’.

Elsewhere, the ex-midfielder went on to say that although the head honcho has other ‘talented players’ at United, he ‘hasn’t made any of them better’ since taking over in 2022.

Since a clip of the controversial statement was posted via X, fans have come out in their droves to condemn Sherwood for his comments.

One social media user wrote: “Made [Marcus] Rashford a 30-goal scorer, but these guys will see nothing positive to say.”

“Aaron Wan Bissaka would like to have a discussion with you Tim Sherwood after you show us how many players you improved when you were a football manager,” said a second.

Another commented: “I can't believe the utter rubbish I'm hearing on Soccer Saturday. Ten Hag hasn't improved anyone? Wan Bisaka Rashford etc. [Scott] McTominay praises sung. For Scotland he plays in [Bruno] Fernandes’ role no one would pick him there.”

However, many viewers believe that there could actually be some truth in Sherwood’s comments.

One fan speculated: “This is nothing short of the truth. Ten Hag won't see the end of the season.”

A second commented: “He's a (sic) mid-table manager at best.”

“True talk. Ten Hag is overrated, won a washed Carabao Cup and thinks he's Pep [Guardiola],” replied another.

Manchester Utd currently sit 11th in the Premier League table and are due to host Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday.
