Sir Jim Ratcliffe was asked about Erik ten Hag's future as Manchester United manager shortly after the side's 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City - and his reaction has got fans talking.

Goals from academy graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, coupled with a fine tactical and defensive display, were enough for United to win their first trophy of the season.

Ten Hag headed into the game under pressure following an eighth-placed Premier League finish - meaning United were provisionally out of European contention entirely - and amid reports from The Guardian that he was about to be sacked.

But the FA Cup final victory has ensured that United will play Europa League football, with Ten Hag also adding a second trophy to his United trophy cabinet.

In the mixed zone, United minority co-owner Ratcliffe was asked about Ten Hag's future - and fans may have expected the British billionaire to give some sort of indication over whether the Dutchman may stay at the club.

Instead, however, Ratcliffe took one glance at the reporter before walking towards the dressing room - crucially remaining silent.

His non-answer certainly got United fans talking on social media.

One wrote: "Not backing Ten Hag even after an FA Cup win tells you they are sacking him. It's pretty sad but true."

Another said: "Feels like a no with the way they're acting so shady."

A third added: "Disrespectful to Ten Hag whether he stays or not."

A fourth claimed: "If he's not publicly backing him now then he ain't staying."

And a fifth asked: "Why not just say yes if he's staying."

Ratcliffe did later answer a question about United's performance and the FA Cup win, stating: "It is a glorious feeling.

"Manchester United clearly were not the favourites to win, but played with total commitment and skill and overcame one of the great teams in world football.

"We're all very proud of the players and the staff, who work tirelessly to support them."
