Three Erik ten Hag calls that have led to ‘unrest’ at Man Utd as Glazers make decision on Dutchman’s future

Three Erik ten Hag calls that have led to ‘unrest’ at Man Utd as Glazers make decision on Dutchman’s future

They have made a decision.

Erik ten Hag has made three decisions that have led to “feelings of unrest” among the Manchester United playing squad, It has been claimed.

Though Ten Hag was only appointed United manager in the summer of 2022, after eight defeats in his first 15 games of this season, the Dutchman is under scrutiny.

However, the Athletic has claimed that though United have suffered their worst start in 61 years, changing manager is not seen as a solution and Ten Hag’s position is “not under immediate threat.”

But while the club’s hierarchy looks to be sticking with Ten Hag, there is allegedly a “feeling of unrest” within the squad, with some players said to be losing faith in the manager.

The Athletic have cited three decision Ten Hag has made that has led to growing tension among the United players.

Firstly, Ten Hag’s intensity, which had been lauded as a positive last term, is now reportedly being perceived by the players as a problem, and there is doubt regarding the manager’s ability to change his approach.

This has allegedly translated into a lack of belief in how Ten Hag is preparing United to win matches. Indeed, the publication added that Ten Hag is not on close terms with many of United’s players due to a perceived lack of charisma on his part.

Elsewhere, Ten Hag’s comment about wanting to “play more football” after a win over Brentford when explaining his decision to take Casemiro off at half-time, is said to have gone down badly inside the Old Trafford dressing room.

Finally, it is reported that Ten Hag’s decision to leave World Cup winner Raphael Varane out of the starting XI, picking Jonny Evans instead for United’s 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, has been criticised.

The United boss cited “tactical reasons” when explaining his motive.

Varane, 30, subsequently missed the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle through illness.
