Footage of Erik ten Hag’s final press conference as Manchester United manager has emerged.

On Monday morning, it was confirmed that Ten Hag had been sacked by United.

An official statement read: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

Hours after Ten Hag was sacked, it was reported that United had set sights on Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as their preferred replacement.

On Tuesday, footage of Ten Hag’s final press conference as United boss was published. You can watch the footage below.

During the press conference, Ten Hag was asked about winning trophies, new signing Manuel Ugarte, how his players will respond to the setback and how his team can improve.

It was also revealed that full-back Luke Shaw has suffered a setback in his recovery from an injury. Ten Hag said: “The process is not going as we expected. That's the truth. The setback, if you want to call it like this, we want also to do it very careful. When he is now dropping again, we want to be very careful.

“We know his past, we have to do this right, because we want him to be available, because he will have a big impact on our performances and also on our levels.”

He added: “We can't have him playing for some games and then drop out again. So, we will do it very carefully.”

Former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to take charge on Wednesday night as United take on Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
