Manchester United fans are calling Erik ten Hag to be sacked after spotting what he did on the back of Cole Palmer’s late winner for Chelsea.

On Thursday night, the Blues and United played out one of the best matches of the season as they met at Stamford Bridge.

The home side raced to a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to Conor Gallagher and Palmer.

United then dragged it back to 2-2 before half-time as Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes got on the scoresheet.

In the second half, Garnacho made it 3-2 in the 67th minute. United looked like they were going home with all three points but a late brace from Palmer in the 10th and 11th minute of stoppage time sealed a dramatic 4-3 win for Chelsea.

After the match, it was spotted that Ten Hag went straight down the tunnel. Manchester Evening News’ Samuel Luckhurst wrote on social media: “Ten Hag straight down the tunnel. Shambolic from #mufc at the death.”

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Cheers mate thought he would be clapping the fans.”

Another tweeted: “He should be sacked. We didn't improve under him. Can't teach the players how to handle the pressure & act in dying moments.”

A third fan added: “Keep walking, hand in your P60, collect a P45 and keep walking.”

Someone else wrote: “Eth should be sacked tomorrow …”

Speaking after the match, Ten Hag said: “We started poor, making individual errors. But I had the feeling we were dominating and we fought ourselves back.

“We were in a winning poison with very good football and scoring great goals. Then in stoppage time, we didn't bring the win over the line.”

He added: “You have to do your job, you have to make the right decisions, and we didn't react quick enough to avoid this situation.

“We dominated the game, especially our wide players were a danger: Garnacho, Antony.”
