David de Gea has stunned fans after naming the five best teammates he had at Manchester United.

Back in 2011, a fresh-faced De Gea left Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid to join United for a reported fee of around £18.9 million.

After the tricky start to life at Old Trafford, the Spaniard cemented his place as the club's number one.

In total, De Gea made 545 appearances for the Red Devils before leaving on the back of the 22/23 season.

During his time at United, De Gea shared the pitch with some world-class players including the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both Rooney and Ronaldo were named when De Gea was asked to pick out the five best players he played with at United.

As reported by Football Italia, the 34-year-old said: "Van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Ibrahimovic and Lukaku.

"But when they didn’t score against me in training, they also got frustrated."

Reacting on social media, fans were left surprised by one particular selection.

One fan said: "I know Lukaku had a decent career but at United he wasn't great???"

Another commented: "Lukaku???"

A third fan added: "Surprised by Lukaku, he did nothing at United."

After leaving United, De Gea joined Serie A side Fiorentina.

Speaking about life in Italy, the Spaniard said: "I signed for one year and the club has an option to renew. I’m happy in Florence and at Fiorentina, but first we need to finish the season in the best possible way.

"The city is wonderful, and the people are amazing. The club has a unique history, and the Franchi excites me."

De Gea continued: "It’s beautiful and passionate. I immediately said yes to Fiorentina, Serie A has always attracted me.

"I like everything, starting from the Viola Park [Fiorentina’s training ground], where I lived for the first couple of months. President Commisso and coach Palladino have a vision; there is a solid bond. We want to push as hard as possible to secure a spot in Europe and try to win the Conference League."

Fiorentina are back in action this weekend when they take on Atalanta at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
