Man Utd fans furious Darwin Nunez avoided red card after 'three bookable offences in 10 seconds'

He's walking a tightrope against United.

Manchester United fans are furious that Darwin Nunez avoided an early red card in Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

United travelled to face their bitter rivals at Anfield in arguably the biggest fixture in the English football calendar.

Liverpool started the day top of the Premier League but had dropped to second by the time the match kicked off, after Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 at the Emirates earlier in the day.

The match began at a frantic pace, with both sides committing several fouls in the early stages.

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was shown the first yellow card of the match after 21 minutes.

He was booked by referee Michael Oliver after barging into United defender Jonny Evans.

The Uruguayan smashed the ball in the direction of the goal after the foul was awarded before appearing to applaud Oliver and his fellow officials.

United fans claim the striker committed not one but three bookable offences in a matter of seconds and should have sent off.

"Darwin should've been shown a red there wtf," posted one United fan on X.

Another added: "Darwin with 3 yellow card actions in 10 seconds but doesn't get sent off. How?"

While a third wrote: "Three yellows for Nunez there, foul, booted ball away, shouted at lino."

Meanwhile, Liverpool fans expressed their concern over Nunez's behaviour in the early stages of the match.

"Darwin is a walking red today FFS," posted one fan.

While another added: "Darwin red incoming unless he gets hooked at 58 mins."

United received a booking of their own later in the half when Kobbie Mainoo was shown a yellow card for a foul on Wataru Endo.

United's other defensive midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat, was then booked himself for bringing down Luis Diaz as Liverpool threatened on the break.

Endo himself was booked for bringing down Amrabat late in the first half, which ended goalless.
