Manchester United are ready to take an 'enormous loss' on one player as part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's summer overhaul.

United have endured an underwhelming second season under Erik ten Hag, although Saturday's FA Cup final victory against rivals Man City meant their campaign ended on a high.

Victory secured United a place in next season's UEFA Europa League, something they would have missed out on by virtue of finishing eighth in the Premier League.

Despite that late season boost, United's new minority-owner INEOS - headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe - is expected to conduct a summer overhaul of the playing squad, regardless of which manager is sitting in the dugout.

United have got several underperforming stars who look like their best days are behind them, but one of the most frustrating cases is Casemiro.

The Brazilian midfielder joined the club for a fee of £60 million (plus up to £10m in add-ons) in 2022 and impressed in his first season, but in the second half of 2023-24 his form tailed off dramatically and he looked way off the pace.

Ratcliffe is keen to shed some weight in terms of wages, so Casemiro's weekly pay packet of more than £300,000 per week makes him a prime candidate to be axed.

According to Footy Insider, United are willing to sell the 32-year-old at an 'enormous loss' in order to get his huge salary off the payroll.

Casemiro may well be on his way out of Old Trafford, but he attended United's FA Cup victory part on Saturday evening before boarding a private jet to his native Brazil later that night.

Casemiro's recent drop off has been quite sudden, especially given that he won three La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, the most recent coming in 2022.

At United he has won the League Cup and the FA Cup.
