Man Utd loanee Brandon Williams has moment to forget in debut for Ipswich Town

Brandon Williams had a moment to forget on his debut.

Manchester United loanee Brandon Williams made his debut for Championship side Ipswich Town on Saturday - but had a moment to forget during the game.

The 22-year-old has headed on loan to Portman Road for the season after struggling for regular playing time at United.

And Williams made his debut for the Tractor Boys against a team which there is no love lost between from the red side of Manchester - Leeds.

It was a seven-goal thriller at Portman Road in the Championship, as the Yorkshire side came out on top with a 4-3 victory.

Joe Rodon's own goal on seven minutes gave the hosts the advantage, but Leeds hit back via Georginio Rutter, Wilfried Gnonto and Joel Piroe to race into a 3-1 lead.

Nathan Broadhead reduced the deficit for the Tractor Boys before half-time, before Luis Sinisterra raced through to scored the fourth for Leeds.

Conor Chaplin scored deep into second half injury time, but Leeds held on to pick up three points in a breathless Championship encounter.

Williams made his debut in the clash, coming on at 73 minutes to replace Harry Clarke and slotted in at right-back when the score was 3-2.

However, only two minutes after coming on, Williams proved to have a baptism of fire and came off second best for the goal which proved to be the winner ultimately.

Jamie Shackleton slotted a ball through the Ipswich defence and Williams found himself in a race with Sinisterra to claim the loose ball, one which the United loanee ended up losing.

The Colombia international got ahead of Williams and in the challenge to do so, the Ipswich man ended up spinning off the Leeds attacker and onto the pitch on his back, before quickly getting back to his feet only to see Sinisterra slot home.

Williams will no doubt be hoping to avoid situations like that in the future with Ipswich and could make his first start for the club on Tuesday evening when they travel to take on Reading in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
