Ashley Young called out Bruno Fernandes live on-air after footage of the Manchester United captain entering Old Trafford for Sunday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth emerged.
Fernandes has been dropped by United head coach Michael Carrick for the fixture at Old Trafford, and will start the game against the Cherries from the bench.
Carrick addressed Fernandes' absence in his pre-match interview with Sky Sports - though didn't state whether it was surrounding the midfielder's criticism of his tactics after Wednesday's 4-1 defeat to Como. And former United left-back Young went one step further with his assessment of the United captain - and on what he spotted him doing before the match.

'Not what you want to see...' - Ashley Young calls out Bruno Fernandes
Sky Sports' Super Sunday showed footage of Fernandes walking into Old Trafford wearing his club tracksuit - with the hood up over his head.

And while that may have been simply down to the effects of Storm Boelo outside the stadium, Young did not appear to like Fernandes' body language in the context of the Portugal midfielder being dropped from the XI.
"Okay, you've been dropped. As a player, it happens. We've been there," Young, who briefly captained United between the summer of 2019 and January 2020, said. "But you want to see a reaction. He's got his hood up, he's walking in, he's trying to show the fans, 'Look, I'm still upset'. But that's not the reaction you want from a captain of Manchester United.

"You want to see him [act like], 'Right, okay. I've been dropped. I know what I've done wrong. I'm going to walk in, and when I get the opportunity to come on the pitch, I'm going to show what I'm actually about. Okay, my comments in the week were said and directed at Michael Carrick, but I don't want to show everyone else. What I've said is already out there. Now I need to show what I'm about'.
"Personality, and showing that when he walks in. That [the clip of Fernandes walking in] is not what you want to see."

Who has replaced Bruno Fernandes?
In dropping his captain, Carrick has to deal with an issue that United managers have rarely faced since the Portugal midfielder arrived at the club - how do you replace Bruno Fernandes?
What he has done is introduced a number of his changes to his side. Mason Mount, who started in midfield in the 4-1 defeat to Como, has been retained, with Matheus Cunha instead replaced by Carlos Baleba in midfield.
Bryan Mbeumo has been picked to play up front, with Amad Diallo also coming in after he was one of the few positives from Wednesday evening in Lombardy.
There is no place, though, for striker Joshua Zirkzee, despite the Dutchman scoring his first Champions League goal of the season as what proved to be a consolation strike in added time against Como.
He joins Fernandes, Cunha and academy graduate Shea Lacey on the bench as attacking options for Michael Carrick to introduce should he need to.
As for Fernandes' captain's armband, Harry Maguire took over the captaincy from the start against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
