The Manchester United winger - currently on loan at Real Betis - has seen an upturn in his form since joining the La Liga outfit.

Manchester United winger Antony broke down in tears during a post-match interview on Thursday (May 8).

Antony, 25, signed for Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for a hefty transfer fee of £85m, but he failed to make a positive impact at Old Trafford and was loaned to Real Betis in January as a result.

However, since joining the Andalusian club, he has gone from strength to strength, putting together a string of impressive performances, having registered eight goals and five assists in 21 appearances for Betis.

Last night, he helped book his side’s place in a first-ever European final with a stunning first-half free kick against Fiorentina before the match was decided in extra time thanks to Abde Ezzalzouli’s strike allowing the Spanish side to win 4-3 on aggregate and setting up a Conference League final against Chelsea in Wroclaw, Poland on May 28.

When speaking about the "very tough times" he faced at United, after full time, he cut an emotional figure.

"My family knows what we went through to be her - I have cried a lot with my mother, with my wife and with my siblings," Antony said, who could not hold back tears.

"Because we went through very tough times. I am living a dream now."

In a previous interview with DAZN in April, the Brazil international admitted that he had "found himself" at his new club.

“I don't think it's by chance that a club pays that amount [what United paid]," said Antony.

"If they pay that amount it's because there's talent and quality. I'm very grateful to United for everything; also to Erik for what we lived together—the titles and the learning experience. I went through difficult times at United but also very good moments; that's why I'm grateful and believe it prepared me to be here enjoying today. I’m very happy here."

He added: "I'm very happy. I found myself. I needed to find myself and be happy. My family needed to be happy too. Every day that passes confirms it was the best decision and as you said, I'm enjoying the city and the club every day.”
