Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has given a huge update on Manchester United’s contract priority.

It has been a busy summer for United as they looked to provide Erik ten Hag with a squad capable of challenging for all four trophies.

During the transfer window, the Old Trafford club spent big to bring in the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Now with the transfer window closed, transfer guru Romano has provided an update on United’s next priority in terms of contract renewals.

It has been claimed that young Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri is the next in line for a new deal.

Romano wrote on social media: “Understand Manchester United now consider Facundo Pellistri's new deal one of the priorities as talks already took place in April and during the summer.

“Pellistri, under contract until June 2025; talks over new long term deal are set to advance soon.”

Pellistri joined United back in 2020 from Uruguayan side Penarol for a reported fee of £9 million.

Although his opportunities have been limited, many United fans have been impressed whenever they get a glimpse of the 21-year-old.

Speaking about playing for a manager like Ten Hag, Pellistri previously said: “It’s incredible [to be managed by Ten Hag]. He has a very good mentality. In the first days he arrived here, he was very clear with his ideas and I think we are looking [like we understand his ideas] on the pitch every match.

“He has the clear idea, he is telling you all the time things you have to improve and I think that’s the way we can get to the top.”

Pellistri could see his game time increased in the coming weeks amid the uncertainties surrounding Jadon Sancho and Antony.

United will be back in Premier League action this weekend as they host Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
