Manchester City fans have had their say on Rayan Cherki after he made his debut for the club at the Club World Cup.

Man City recruited ahead of the Club World Cup, signing Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves and Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.

Not to mention Cherki from Lyon, snapping him up in a deal worth £46.3 million.

The French attacking midfielder, who was attracting interest from Liverpool, joined the Etihad outfit on a five-year deal until the summer of 2030.

He made his first appearance for Man City in their Club World Cup opener on Wednesday, having made an impression in training.

But Man City fans online weren't completely convinced with his performance against Wydad AC, with some claiming he looked 'nervous'.

Cherki, who was replaced on the hour mark, failed to influence the game in the attacking third as some fans noticed him occupying the same space as Phil Foden.

One X user wrote: "Nervous looks like. Luckily it’s only his first game."

A second said: "Disappointing debut but nothing to be worried about."

A third argued: "He will be fine, at least people saw he’s willing to press."

A fourth commented: "Looked good! Was a bit over eager to do stuff, but after a few games, he will settle in perfect, I think.. i also think he will be better when he has a Haaland to aim for upfront."

Another added: "He was so nervous, but his pressing play was decent tho."

Cherki could get another run out next Monday as the Blues resume their Club World Cup campaign against UAE outfit Al Ain.

The 21-year-old impressed at Lyon last season, scoring 12 goals across all competitions - including a strike against Man City's cross-city rivals Manchester United.

Despite scoring at Old Trafford, his old side were on the losing end and its a result he hasn't got out of his mind.

He is relishing the chance to punish Man United as revenge for his Europa League pain.

"I [didn't] like [it] when Manchester United won the game against Lyon because I am a Lyonnais," he said. "Now I am waiting for the game [to] kill them.

"I'm here to win all the games."

Cherki hasn't got long to wait to face Man United as Man City host their counterparts on the weekend of September 13.
