Jamie Carragher claims Man City boss Pep Guardiola is 'terrified' of Roy Keane

Jamie Carragher is continuing to speak on his back-and-forth row with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Jamie Carragher claims Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is "terrified" after leaving Roy Keane out of his rant about pundits.

Guardiola was not happy with some former players citing complacency as an issue for the treble-winners following back-to-back draws against Liverpool and Spurs.

In his press conference ahead of the clash with Aston Villa, Guardiola passionately defended his team and as well as mentioning Richards and Gary Neville, brought up the fact that Carragher never won the Premier League.

He said: "Maybe, maybe I'm wrong and they are seeing everything that I'm not able to see, but I don't have that feeling.

"Jamie Carragher didn't win one (Premier League). Micah Richards didn't win four Premier Leagues in a row. Never, ever."

Carragher bit back on X, bringing up the 115 charges issued against City from the Premier League.

And the Sky Sports pundit has further elaborated on Guardiola's comments, speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet.

Aware that it was coming, he felt the presser from the Catalan was another case of "siege mentality", similar to his remarks about "not recognising" his team last season.

But he also pointed out that Guardiola did not include Manchester United legend Roy Keane, which he feels was telling.

Carragher said: "[Pep Guardiola] obviously said what he said [about me] in the press conference and it was one for the papers that comes out at 10:30pm at night, but I was sent it an hour or two before.

"I knew it was coming, but I thought it was that siege mentality – have a go at someone, he said something about the crowd last week. If you go back to this time last year – I don’t know if it was the same sort of time – but [Manchester City] played Tottenham at home.

"They were getting beat 2-0 and then they won 4-2, and he came out and had a bit of a go at people. It feels to me like he’s a little bit worried about Arsenal, the fact that he’s done that and he feels he needs to give everyone a kick up the backside.

“The only thing as well I noticed is he must be terrified of [Roy Keane]. He didn’t mention Roy, did he?”

City were beaten and outplayed by Aston Villa on Wednesday in a game where they attempted just two shots on target - the fewest from a Guardiola side.

They also faced a staggering 22 shots, with Leon Bailey's deflected effort proving to be the winner.

Now winless for four games, City find themselves in fourth place and desperately need to return to winning ways against Luton on Sunday.
