Pep Guardiola has dropped a major update on his future at Manchester City ahead of the new Premier League season getting underway.

The Spaniard's contract expires in June 2025, with reports claiming that he may decide to leave the Etihad Stadium once that deal ends.

He has been linked with potentially taking the England job, with the FA considering an interim manager approach that would allow Guardiola to take up the role next summer.

The 53-year-old will have spent nine years at City by the time next summer rolls around - a year longer than Jurgen Klopp spent at Liverpool before he decided to leave the club.

The Guardian have claimed that Guardiola will take time to make his final decision - something that the club are said to be happy to accept given the Spaniard's lengthy list of successes.

But speaking in a press conference during City's ongoing tour of the United States, Guardiola has appeared to indicate that he may already have made his mind up.

He said: "If you love what you do, why should I stop? I like it - as much [now as when] they hired me. So let's go."

If Guardiola does indeed sign a new deal, it will come as a blow to the rest of the Premier League, with City having won the last four titles.

They have also won a Champions League under the Spaniard's stewardship.

Off the field, though, Guardiola has had plenty to deal with during the ongoing pre-season campaign, with doubts over the futures of both Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson.

While De Bruyne is expected to stay at the club amid keen interest from the Saudi Pro League, Guardiola has admitted that Ederson - who was ruled out of the Copa America with Brazil due to a fractured eye socket sustained in the crucial win over Tottenham last season - has 'a decision to make' over whether to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.
