Pep Guardiola has made a special request ahead of what could be his final managerial meeting with Jurgen Klopp.

Guardiola and Klopp are deemed to be two of the very best coaches in history and first went head-to-head during their time in Germany with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

They then renewed the healthy rivalry in England with Manchester City and Liverpool, competing for titles in a new era of English football.

City and Liverpool have won the last six Premier League titles, with the Reds pushing the Blues incredibly close on two occasions in addition to their 2019/20 triumph.

Despite the immense pressures, there has always been a mutual respect between Guardiola and Klopp.

They could be in opposite dugouts for the final time at Anfield on Sunday with Klopp leaving at the end of the season.

And Guardiola wants to finally sit down and have a meal with Klopp.

As per the Liverpool Echo, the Catalan said: "Sometimes [we speak] in the corridor before the press conference but when we were honoured to get in the [Premier League] Hall of Fame we spent time with families but in terms of lunch or dinners, it never happened.

"We have to decide who pays, that's why we didn't do it. I think it's going to happen sooner or later, I would love it."

Klopp announced he would be ending his nine-year stint at Liverpool in January and Guardiola was in touch over the phone.

The 56-year-old isn't sure their relationship is considered a friendship but is up for a future meeting reflecting on what they have achieved.

Klopp commented: "While we are in charge of our respective clubs, why should we have a friendship or relationship?

"After that if we meet and look back then there will be a lot of things we could share and that will probably happen. But that will have to be after and I don’t know when that will happen."
