Manchester City want to replace Kyle Walker with a player who is faster than him, with a two-man summer transfer shortlist revealed.

Walker went into the 2024/25 season as City captain for the second consecutive campaign but a poor run of form led to the England international signing on loan for AC Milan in January.

The Rossoneri have an option to buy the 34-year-old permanently and the chances of him returning to the Etihad Stadium look incredibly slim.

City brought in a total of four signings in the January window but the eight-time Premier League winners are expected to continue with a massive squad overhaul.

Strengthening in the full-back areas is a priority for the Blues and there's word on two top targets.

According to The Telegraph, City have their eyes set on Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento and see him as the ideal candidate to replace Walker.

The former Chelsea academy player can both on both sides of the backline and made his England debut in 2024.

After signing for Spurs in a £50 million switch, Walker played an integral role in six Premier League titles at City and his blistering pace proved be a devastating weapon in stopping opposition counter attacks.

However, in the current campaign, Walker has lost a yard or two - with Livramento actually faster than him.

Livramento beats Walker for pace

In November, Squawka said that Livramento clocked in at 35.26km/h - with Walker just behind with a reported top speed of 33.6km/h achieved in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle back in September.

He had previously set a new record for the fastest top speed in the Premier League, coming in 37.31km/h in the treble-winning season in 2022/23.

City are also huge admirers of Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso, who has been linked with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal in the past.

City were in for him in January and a deal looked to be on the cards at one stage before nothing materialised, though they could return for the 25-year-old in the summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio had mentioned a potential fee of €60-65 million for Cambiaso during the January window.

Crystal Palace's Colombian defender Daniel Munoz has been touted as a surprise option for the right-back berth after impressing under Oliver Glasner.
