Man City fans mocked for 'carnage' in the stands after Julian Alvarez's dramatic winner vs RB Leipzig

Man City fans mocked for 'carnage' in the stands after Julian Alvarez's dramatic winner vs RB Leipzig

City came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Manchester City supporters inside the Etihad Stadium have been mocked for how they celebrated Julian Alvarez's late winner against RB Leipzig.

City came from 2-0 down on Tuesday evening to win 3-2 and wrap up top spot in Group G.

Lois Openda scored twice in the first half as Leipzig threatened to hand Pep Guardiola's side their first European home loss in 29 games.

The second-half introductions of Alvarez and Jeremy Doku swung the game in City's favour. Erling Haaland halved the deficit nine minutes after the break with his 40th Champions League goal.

Foden grabbed an equaliser with 20 minutes to go, thanks to some fine work from Doku and Josko Gvardiol.

Alvarez completed the comeback three minutes from time and wheeled away to celebrate with his teammates.

TNT Sports cameras picked up on those in the stands celebrating and they weren't exactly enthusiastic.

Supporters were seen clapping Alvarez's goal but rivals on social media expected much more given the circumstances.

One person posted: "I've seen more limbs watching Harry Potter play Quidditch."

A second said: "Typical kind of Etihad behaviour."

Someone added: "Looks like a TV talk show crowd."

While another put: "How did they walk away from all of that."

On Saturday, Guardiola lamented how quiet City fans inside the Etihad were during a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Haaland's goal means he's the fastest player to reach 40 Champions League goals, 10 games quicker than previous holder Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It comes after becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals four days ago.

Guardiola praised the 23-year-old in his post-match interview and joked about how often he breaks records.

He joked: "Again? I have to tell you again? A thousand million times, I'm really impressed. They won today. Another record. Congratulations.

"He's a fantastic player. I tell you many times, we're really, really pleased. We love him, not just for the goals he scores, but for many many other things."

City return to action against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
