Manchester City fans immediately turned on ONE player following Everton's stunning equaliser during their Premier League game.

Man City, who have lost their last two league matches, opened the scoring in their Boxing Day clash as Bernardo Silva found the back of the net in the 14th minute.

But nine minutes before the break, Everton levelled proceedings when Iliman Ndiaye equalised with a tremendous strike.

However, Man City supporters on social media believe Ndiaye was allowed the opportunity after Manuel Akanji fluffed his clearance.

Akanji failed to intercept Abdoulaye Doucoure's cross, with the ball eventually arriving to Ndiaye, who produced a moment of magic to score.

People online slammed the Man City defender's role in the build-up to Everton's goal as they made their feelings known.

One X user wrote: "What are you doing Akanji?"

A second tweeted: "Akanji defending like Shkodran Mustafi."

A third added: "That was poor defending from Akanji, Man City need to tighten up at the back."

A fourth commented: "That was on Akanji more than Lewis but just great play from Everton tbh."

A fifth slammed: "What was that from Akanji? Dominated the game and concede from first good chance for Everton!"

Man City will be hoping to turn things around in the second-half as they aim to win their first league match since their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the start of the month.
