Man City are prepared for Kevin De Bruyne to move to Saudi Arabia and already have the perfect replacement in mind

Manchester City have the perfect Kevin De Bruyne replacement lined up in case he decides to leave the club.

Kevin De Bruyne is one of the greatest players in Premier League history, but his future at Man City is looking increasingly uncertain.

The Belgian midfielder has entered the final year of his contract, and at 33 years old, City are unlikely to offer him a lengthy extension.

There have been plenty of reports this summer linking De Bruyne with a move to Saudi Arabia, with several clubs interested in him.

The six-time Premier League winner is said to be strongly considering life in the Middle East, with Al-Ittihad the favourites to secure his signature.

While Pep Guardiola would obviously like to keep De Bruyne, City will not stand in the way of their highest-paid star and could decide to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for nothing in 2025.

If that is the case, then City will likely target Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala as his replacement.

The 21-year-old has really blossomed over the last two seasons and took his impressive form into Euro 2024, scoring three goals before Germany bowed out in the quarter-finals.

According to Caught Offside, Bayern bosses fear that Musiala may be tempted to swap the Bundesliga giants for the Premier League champions.

Stalled contract talks with Alphonso Davies and Joshua Kimmich could play a part; if both walk away from the club as free agents next summer then Bayern's squad will be significantly weakened, not ideal for Musiala's desire to fight for the Champions League every season.

According to Christian Falk, City could pounce on the uncertainty and convince Musiala to join them.

"There is an idea at Manchester City to try and sign him as the successor of Kevin De Bruyne," Falk wrote in his Fact Files column.

"I don’t know if the Belgian international will leave this summer or in the next, but the story of De Bruyne at Manchester City is coming to an end.

"Musiala grew up in England and I think he’s always got one eye on the Premier League, so this would be the next big danger for Bayern Munich."
