Kevin De Bruyne gave an interesting answer when asked which of Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero is the best striker he has ever played with.

De Bruyne is undoubtedly one of the greatest midfielders in modern football history, with his best football coming since he joined Manchester City in 2015.

The Belgian star has scored 103 goals and provided 171 assists in 386 games for the club, a frankly ridiculous return.

While his brilliance has propelled City to glory on several occasions, he would not have notched so many assists without the help of some brilliant strikers.

De Bruyne has played with some great goal-scorers in his time, but the two he has enjoyed the most success with are Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland.

Aguero is City's all-time leading goal-scorer, with a good chunk of his 260 goals for the club set-up by De Bruyne.

Yet Haaland has won two Golden Boots in two seasons in the Premier League, and following his hat-trick against West Ham last weekend has scored 70 goals in 69 Premier League games.

When asked whether the Norwegian is the best striker he has ever played with, De Bruyne gave an interesting answer.

"It’s a hard question. In the box I’d say yes," De Bruyne said.

"All around, maybe Kun [Sergio Aguero] but it depends on what you talk about. Erling is the most prolific striker I’ve played with.

"I’ve played with really good strikers like Kun, Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres, there’s some good guys. It’s hard to compare but the stats speak for themselves. He’s started the season on fire and let’s hope he maintains it."

Haaland will be pleased to hear that De Bruyne - who has entered the final year of his contract at City - didn't hold any talks with potential suitors over the summer.

"There has been a lot of noises and news. I said in the summer I expect a quiet summer and that’s what happened," De Bruyne said.

"I went on holiday for four weeks, came back and started training. That was it. Nothing to tell. I’ve not been entertained by anybody or spoken to anybody."
