Erling Haaland produced arguably the worst miss of the season during Manchester City vs Manchester United.

Heading into the match, United were given next to no chance to get a result due to their recent form.

However, the Red Devils stunned the Etihad Stadium into utter silence with eight minutes on the clock.

A long ball from goalkeeper Andre Onana was controlled by Bruno Fernandes, who played it back to Marcus Rashford.

The Englishman then unleashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner, leaving Ederson diving in despair.

After Rashford smashed United into a surprising lead, Pep Guardiola’s men were dominant for the remainder of the first half.

In the closing stages of the half, City had a glorious chance to make it 1-1.

Phil Foden headed the ball back towards Haaland, who was right in front of the goal line.

With the goal gaping, the Norwegian somehow managed to put the ball over the bar. You can watch the chance below.

Speaking on commentary for Sky Sports, former United man Gary Neville reacted to Haaland’s miss.

He said: “Oh my gosh. What has he just done. What has he not done...

“They've been working it and working it and finally we thought they got perfection. Until that. He missed chances a few weeks ago against Chelsea.”

Neville added: “Pep Guardiola cannot believe it. It's a startling thing we've just seen. Is he trying to put it into the top of the net? Is he trying to be clever?”

During the half-time interval, Roy Keane was full of praise for Rashford, he said: “It was a brilliant goal and a brilliant first half that has flown by with chances everywhere. McTominay makes a great run in terms of taking players away. From the long kick upfield, it's as simple as you like.

“But then it's world class from Marcus Rashford. He's done it before and there's no problem with his body language today.”
