A Luton Town fan has gone viral after being spotted giving out ‘tactical instructions’ against Manchester City.

On Sunday afternoon, Rob Edwards’ Luton side welcomed reigning champions of England City to Kenilworth Road.

Having had their hearts broken by a late Declan Rice goal against Arsenal in midweek, Luton were looking to spring a huge surprise against City.

As expected, Pep Guardiola’s men were dominant from kick-off as they had the majority of ball possession.

During the first half, a video went viral on social media after a Luton fan appeared to give out tactical instructions to the players.

The lady stood up and gestured with her hands before sitting back down on her seat.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Yer nan thinks she’s Pep Guardiola.”

Another tweeted: “Your mum trying to tell your dad how to rearrange the garden furniture.”

A third fan joked: “More ball knowledge than Ten Hag.”

Someone else wrote: “Luton fan in back doing her best Pep impersonation.”

The players must have been inspired by the fan's instructions as they took a shock lead during stoppage time thanks to Elijah Adebayo.

Prior to the match, City were dealt an injury blow after top scorer Erling Haaland was ruled out. Speaking about the injury, Guardiola said: “A bone stress reaction in his foot and after the last game he felt it. I don't know [the length of the injury]. Week by week, day by day, we will see what happens. We play with 11 that's for sure.

“Erling has been so important since he's arrived that's for sure. But during the season we see this sort of thing. Injuries, suspensions, problems, we have to adapt. Julian Alvarez will be playing [as our centre forward].”

City will have to improve in the second half if they are to end their four-game winless streak.
