Only Liverpool player other than Trent Alexander-Arnold to be booed by his own fans made heart-breaking admission

Trent Alexander-Arnold isn't the only Liverpool player to be booed by his own fans.

The only Liverpool player other than Trent Alexander-Arnold to be booed by his own fans made a heart-breaking admission.

Liverpool's Premier League fixture against Arsenal, which ended 2-2, was marred by the crowd reaction to Alexander-Arnold, who was making his first appearance since announcing his departure from the club.

Alexander-Arnold was greeted with a chorus of boos when he entered the fray and received a hostile reception from the Anfield faithful.

Ex-Liverpool forward Michael Owen shared his views on the incident following Jamie Carragher's comments.

Alexander-Arnold isn't the only Liverpool player to be booed by his own fans as Lucas Leiva was also subjected to boos.

Lucas was booed by the Anfield crowd during a 0-0 draw against Fulham.

His performance was scrutinised by Liverpool fans as they made their feelings known.

Lucas, who spent 10 seasons at Liverpool. called the fan reaction the 'worst moment' of his career.

"Fulham was the worst moment because it was the first time anything like that had happened to me but it was an experience I could learn from," he said in 2009. "Maybe it will happen again but now I have the experience. You have to understand the supporters.

"They were expecting Xabi [Alonso] that time and he was on the bench. The game wasn't good, we were not playing well so I understand. Playing well is the only way you will change it."

Lucas revealed the steps he took after being booed by his own fans, adding: "When I came to Liverpool, I came with a target: to make history. Nobody wants to come to a club and become just one more player. Since that moment [against Fulham] I tried to protect myself.

"I stopped reading newspapers. Each time I listened to criticism it made me stronger. If you just get the negative things you don't improve. I just try to get the positive things. A lot of people believe in my qualities."

Lucas called time on his Liverpool career in the summer of 2017 by joining Lazio.

Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, will end his association with his boyhood club this summer when his contract expires.

A free transfer to Real Madrid appears to be on the cards.
