Fans were left furious with Robbie Fowlerâs distasteful comment ahead of Liverpoolâs third-round FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Fowler, 49, was part of ITVâs broadcast team alongside Karen Carney and Mark Pougatch.
He made the comment after explaining how Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez âhas got to improveâ.
"For me, the more I see him, the more I think he's not a Liverpool player," Fowler said when speaking about Nunez on ITV.

"People might have a go at me for saying that.
"You're not signing a player or bringing a player in because he works hard. You've got to come in and you've got to score goals. I know he's a fan favourite for what he puts in, but you've got to perform better and do better in that Liverpool shirt."
"I don't think he's quick enough in his thought, in terms of his finishing," he added.
"He's quick across the ground, but his speed of thought has got to be quicker than anything else as a striker.
"I think when he has time to think about it, he sort of struggles. When he instinctively [does it], it's sometimes a little better but we'd still probably want a little bit more. His speed of thought as a striker, in terms of where he should be and how he finishes, it's got to improve."

Carney, 37, then jokingly asked if the club had asked Fowler to work with Nunez, given the fact the former England international is seventh on Liverpoolâs all-time goal scorers list with 183 strikes from 369 games.
But his response has infuriated fans.
âNo...Iâm one of these unemployed scousers; you donât get many of us about, do you?â Fowler replied.
Fans on X were quick to hit back at Fowler's strange comment.
One said: "Robbie Fowler jokes he is an unemployed scouser... whilst working for ITV. Idiot."
Another added: "Fowler can f**k off with the unemployment joke."
A third explained: "Wtf was that from Robbie Fowler?"
A fourth slammed: "Robbie Fowler making an unemployment joke at the expense of Liverpool."
