Mohamed Salah's social media activity has got fans talking after Arsenal failed to beat Aston Villa at home.

Liverpool left it very late on Saturday afternoon as two stoppage-time goals from Darwin Nunez sealed a vital 2-0 win against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

As a result, the Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points before Arsenal kicked off against Villa.

At the Emirates, the Gunners threw away a 2-0 lead with Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins cancelling out goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, earning a 2-2 draw for the visitors.

On the back of Arsenal's draw with Villa, Liverpool now have a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League and also have a game in hand.

A few minutes after the final whistle blew at the Emirates, Salah went viral as he posted a selfie of himself and Nunez on his social media.

Reacting to Salah's post, one fan said: "Just heard Arsenal result lads?"

Another tweeted: "Good timing that."

A third fan added: "Perfect timing."

Someone else wrote: "Nice timing Mo."

Speaking after the match, Reds boss Arne Slot said: "I saw today Brentford were more of a threat on the counter-attack than Forest were, let that be clear, but that has also to do with a lot of credit you have to give to Brentford because I saw their game on Tuesday where it was a completely equal game, both teams had numerous chances and they came back after 2-0 behind [against Manchester City].

"We knew how hard it was to play here, we knew how hard it is to play at Forest and we knew how difficult it is to play against such a low block, as United played against us and later on against Arsenal. [The] second [half] of the season, [it] is always more difficult to win but I cannot ask for more from these players, they give everything they have."

Liverpool return to UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday night when they take on Lille at Anfield.
