Erik ten Hag has already told Liverpool why they must sign transfer target Ryan Gravenberch, showering him with high praise during his spell at Ajax.

Liverpool remain in the market for another midfielder, having snapped up Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined total of £95 million.

Though Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his midfield options before the window slams shut following the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The likes of Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, Nice's Khephren Thuram and Crystal Palace's Cheick Doucoure continue to be linked with a move to Anfield.

Not to mention Bayern Munich's Gravenberch, who is wanted by the Reds with a club readying an official bid to land his services.

Man United are also interested as they're also keen to recruit another midfielder following the summer signing of Mason Mount, who suffered an injury against Tottenham and will be ruled out for a month.

Ten Hag is hoping to lure Gravenberch to Old Trafford, with the Dutchman speaking very highly of the star midfielder following their time together at Ajax.

The 53-year-old watched the player's rise during his time at the Eredivisie outfit and called him a 'very important' member of the team despite his young age.

"Ryan is a very young player, but he has already gained a lot of experience. He has already played over 100 games in the Eredivisie, has played in the Champions League and has been called up for the national team," he said.

"Despite his young age, he has already experienced a lot and, above all, won titles. He's very important for our team because he's a box-to-box player. He accelerates out of the positional play, does good dribbling, has enormous passing accuracy and takes part in the build-up of the game."

Ten Hag added: "Due to his athleticism and physique, he is also strong in the transition game and can also win the balls. He's come a long way, but can still learn a lot."
