Federico Chiesa is at risk of missing out on an automatic Premier League winner's medal alongside several of his Liverpool teammates, including Tyler Morton and James McConnell.

Liverpool moved a step closer to the Premier League title on Wednesday as goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister sealed a hard-fought 2-0 win over Newcastle.

With 10 games remaining of the 2024/25 campaign, Arne Slot's side are currently 13 points clear of second-place Arsenal at the top of the table.

The majority of Liverpool's squad have already qualified to receive a Premier League winner's medal after making five appearance but a handful are at risk of missing out, including Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa, who joined the Reds from Juventus in the summer for a reported £12.5 million, has played just three games in the league this season [against Bournemouth, Brentford and Ipswich], meaning he is two away from qualifying.

Other players who are likely to miss out are reserve team goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros, who has played just once – when he made his Liverpool and Premier League debut in a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in October.

Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni and James McConnell have yet to feature, despite impressing in cup competitions, while Jayden Danns will be unable to qualify for a medal as he is currently on loan at Sunderland.

Danns is four appearances short of collecting silverware but ultimately, the 19-year-old forward could be handed a medal.

As per the Premier League website, the champions are given 40 commemorative medals made of silver, which are 2.25in (5.7cm) in diameter.

They can be distributed to the manager, players and officials, as the club see fit, as long as every player who has made at least five Premier League appearances during the title-winning season gets one.

Additional medals may only be presented with the consent of the Premier League Board, and that will only be granted if more than 39 players have made at least five league appearances during the campaign.

Liverpool will take on Southampton in their next league game on March 8.
