A Liverpool star was forced to limit comments on social media after receiving abuse following his showing against Manchester United.

The points were shared at Old Trafford as Man United and Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Bruno Fernandes cancelled out Luis Diaz's opener as he scored from inside the centre circle.

Kobbie Mainoo put the hosts ahead with a spectacular finish before Mohamed Salah levelled proceedings from the spot.

The visitors were seemingly cruising when they there one-nil up until Jarell Quansah misplaced a pass to Fernandes, who capitalised by scoring from range.

The young defender's costly error proved crucial as the Red Devils then went ahead as they frustrated Liverpool, who could only manage a point in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

Quansah inexplicably received abuse on social media and was forced to limit comments on Instagram.

Klopp refused to blame the 21-year-old but urged him to switch off his social media.

"As a football player in the Premier League and playing for Liverpool, I have the bad news it will not be the last mistake in his life, unfortunately," he said. "That’s how life is. I thought he dealt extremely well with it, we dealt well with it. But when our idols in the past made these kinds of mistakes there was no social media, so I hope he’s smart enough to switch that off.

"Don’t read the Daily Mail or whatever where they go for people in these moments and make it personal. He dealt extremely well with it and that’s part of the game."

The German boss added: "We want to play football and keep the ball and play build-up. It is not a great situation but there are bigger mistakes in football and weren’t used, but Bruno saw the opportunity and took it and that’s how it is.

"There is absolutely no blame or criticism, not at all, it just happens. He will learn from it and that’s the best thing that can happen."

The point against Man United leaves Liverpool in second place, behind Arsenal on goal difference.

Klopp's side resume their league campaign on April 14 when they host Crystal Palace.
