Liverpool have finally received some positive injury news as key duo return to first-team training ahead of their trip to the City ground on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp was struck with countless injury problems in 2024 and was without the likes of Alisson Becker, Mo Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, for the Carabao Cup final last weekend.

The absences didn't cause Liverpool too many issues as their young guns came out victorious after Virgil Van Dijk's late winner in extra time starting Liverpool's quadruple attempt.

Liverpool's injury woes have actually provided some positives for Jurgen Klopp, with players like Conor Bradley and Jayden Danns really maximising their playing opportunities with impressive performances.

Despite recent bad news on midfielder Thiago, the situation appears to be getting brighter, as Klopp confirmed two key men have returned to training ahead of the weekend.

“Darwin and Dom trained yesterday with the team, so very good, we have to wait how they react,” Klopp told reporters.

Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai have been critical for Liverpool's title charge and have been involved in 32 goals between them this season in the Premier League.

Klopp also provided some positive updates on the other Liverpool absentees.

“I don’t think Mo is too far off but he will not feature tomorrow. Next week, at any point, it’s possible. He’s on the way back definitely," Klopp revealed.

“Wataru and Robbo didn’t [train on Thursday] but that’s the plan, that they join in today,” said Klopp.

Klopp put some of the absences down to a bug that has hit the club, but the German was optimistic it wouldn't cause any more issues.

“We have to see if that really works out, Macca was ill for one and a half days, Robbo had the same thing. We hope it didn’t spread. We will see," Klopp explained.

Liverpool remain one point clear at the top of the Premier League, but with Manchester City and Arsenal gaining momentum Klopp will be desperate to get back to full strength as much as possible.
