Diogo Jota destroyed Liverpool teammate Luis Diaz during a shooting challenge in training.

After a dismal 22/23 season that resulted in a failure to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool will be hoping for a big improvement in the new season.

As the 23/24 campaign fast approaches, Reds duo Jota and Diaz have been put through their paces with a shooting drill. You can watch the footage below.

The footage showed Jota getting the better of Diaz on two occasions as he scored two compared to Diaz’s one.

Both Jota and Diaz missed a large part of last season due to their respective injuries.

Jota only made a combined 28 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, scoring seven and assisting eight.

Meanwhile, Diaz, who suffered a serious knee injury only managed five goals and three assists in 21 matches across all competitions.

Back in May, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke about the absences of both Jota and Diaz last season.

He said: “The thing is, he was out after he got the injury in the Arsenal game, and came back when we were in a training camp during the World Cup in Dubai, so we all thought, 'Finally back.'

“He trained exceptional, absolutely exceptional, and he slipped only a little bit on the grass, felt something, kept going on, everything is fine. After training, 'Yeah, I feel a little bit. Let's see.' Another scan, out for another three months or whatever. Horrible, absolutely horrible.

“He's so football smart, moving in the right areas, naturally defending from his position, goal threat, speed, cheeky. Very, very special player, I have to say. We missed him a lot.”

Klopp continued: “We missed Diogo Jota as well – everybody realised when he came back how good he is. The other boys have to create in a lot of moments – we didn't create a lot or not enough, or not clear enough.”

Liverpool will begin their 23/24 Premier League campaign on Sunday when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
