Liverpool fans turned on ONE player following their crushing defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League.

Liverpool, who drew 2-2 with Manchester United last weekend, resumed their European venture as they hosted Atalanta on Thursday.

And they suffered a bruising 3-0 defeat at Anfield, with Gianluca Scamacca bagging a stunning brace - scoring a goal in each half.

Scamacca, formerly of West Ham United, opened the scoring before the break as his shot from inside the box squirmed underneath Caoimhin Kelleher's hands.

The Italian forward bagged his second goal of the game when he found himself unmarked in the box as he slotted home with a tidy finish.

Mario Pasalic added a third in the 83rd minute.

The Reds couldn't get going in the second-half and were guilty of missing some huge chances, with Darwin Nunez missing a gilt-edged chance in the first-half.

With the game goalless, Nunez ran through on goal but his decision-making in front of goal left a lot to be desired.

He was eventually substituted in the second-half as fans made their feelings known about his showing up front.

Liverpool fans on social media slammed the Uruguayan and appears they have had enough of his services.

One X user fumed: "And now you see why I was so pissed off with Nunez missing that chance. It’s so f**king important to score your chances."

A second wrote: "Nunez will never change, this isn’t abuse, I’m just letting you all know that he’ll never change."

A third added: "I genuinely can’t believe what I’m seeing from Nunez, it’s calamitous."

A fourth said: "Nunez is just unbelievably dumb. He almost never does the right thing. I don’t know how you coach someone like him."

Another commented: "Look at the difference between Scammaca and Nunez absolutely hilarious how bad in front of goal he is."

The return leg goes down next Thursday as Liverpool will look to overturn a first-leg deficit.
