Kylian Mbappe was among the first to react to Trent Alexander-Arnold's statement confirming that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season but deleted his response almost immediately.
Real Madrid are white-hot favourites to sign the Liverpool right-back, who has announced that his long association with his boyhood club will come to an end this summer. Alexander-Arnold will link up with England teammate Jude Bellingham in Madrid, where World Cup winner Mbappe has been enjoying a prolific first season in La Liga.
Alexander-Arnold issued an emotional statement on on Monday to announce his imminent departure and also shared a message with Liverpool fans in the official club statement on the matter.

The right-back, who has won the Premier League and Champions League with the Reds, posted a video on Instagram to break the news.
One of more than a million likes on the post was initially from Mbappe, but the French international unliked it almost as quickly.
AS reported that "Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season on his X account, and Kylian Mbappe was one of the first to express his agreement. The Frenchman liked the Englishman's Instagram post, something that hasn't gone unnoticed..."

In the midst of a bizarre outrage, a number of Alexander-Arnold's England teammates and other Premier League stars have shown their support and given their congratulations.
Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool after more than 20 years and with a second Premier League title under his belt.

Real Madrid are plotting a potent link-up between the proud scouser and their already established galaxy of stars. A change of head coach is in the post after Los Blancos were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal and lost to bitter rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final last month.

Carlo Ancelotti will leave at the end of the season and is likely to miss out on the title in La Liga too, with Real Madrid four points behind Barca with four matches left to play.
Mbappe's acquisition has helped Ancelotti's cause but falling short with the former Paris Saint-Germain striker, Ballon d'Or contender Vinicius Jr and in-form Rodrygo all in the side isn't the sort of thing Real Madrid president Florentino Perez takes lying down.
If history tells us anything about Perez, Alexander-Arnold won't be the last blockbuster signing of their summer.
