Jamie Carragher has angered Manchester United fans with Liverpool comments after Daniel Sturridge’s Monday Night Football analysis.

On Monday night, Sturridge was speaking on Sky Sports about Liverpool’s famous trio made up of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

He said: “This is probably the best trio in regards to understanding of each other…They were just a great trio. You see Salah still putting up the numbers. I think they all had that camaraderie. They knew where each other would be; that chemistry was there..

“I was on the bench. Of course, I wanted to play, but I knew these guys had a vibe going. Sometimes with something special, you have to let it rock.”

On social media, Carragher wrote: “Salah, Firmino, Mane! Best front three we’ve seen in the PL.”

United fans were quick to react to Carragher. One said: “Jamie thinks the PL started in 2017.”

Another tweeted: “Surely and I mean SURELY you don’t think that’s better than Ronaldo, Rooney & Tevez?”

A third fan added: “Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo and Berbatov was a crazy team up.”

Someone else wrote: “Not better than RONALDO, ROONEY and TEVEZ!!! No chance!!”

A fifth commented: “Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez was. And that front three won the league and CL in the same season.”

Sturridge went on to explain how Firmino was perfect for the false nine role under Jurgen Klopp.

He said: “The counter-press was what Jurgen wanted us to do.

“I knew that, when it comes to counter-pressing, I was more of a dribbler and those types of things. Bobby was perfect for that role, I’m transparent in knowing that.”
